Made by Kids for Kids
My 10-year-old daughter recently saw these cute chick cupcakes on Pinterest (http://birdonacake.blogspot.com/2012/03/adorable-easter-chick-cupcakes.html) and she decided to make them to bring to our cousins’ house. I thought I would share the recipe with you to add to the other 2 Easter themed cupcake designs she tried this year. Happy Baking!
Ingredients: yellow cake cupcakes, buttercream frosting (she used Wilton’s recipe: http://www.wilton.com/recipe/Buttercream-Icing and made yellow and orange using food coloring), yellow decorating sugar, mini chocolate chips
Directions:
- Bake cupcakes according to package.
- Using yellow buttercream frosting, frost the cupcakes.
- On a plate, press the frosted cupcake into the yellow decorating sugar to cover completely.
- Add 2 mini chocolate chips (pointed tip inside the cupcake) for eyes.
- In a piping bag, add yellow frosting and make the wings (she used Wilton tip # 104). Sprinkle yellow sugar on the wings.
- In a piping bag, add orange frosting and make the beak and feet (she used Wilton tip # 3).
Tip: You can improvise if you do not have icing piping bags and tips, another suggestion is cake writing gel or use a sandwich bag as a piping bag (add frosting to bag, hold at an angle like a piping bag and cut off a tiny corner to make a tip.)
Thank you for the referrals! Good luck this school year! 🐥
