As a parent, I am always trying to find new and fun ways of practicing my child’s weekly spelling words. Here are a few games that you may already have in the house that you can now also use to practice spelling words…it makes the routine of studying a little more fun!
Scrabble or Bananagrams – Place a pile of letter tiles on the table. Have child spell the words as you call them out.
Scrabble Slam – A card version of the Original Scrabble Game. Have child sort same letters into piles. Ask child to use the cards to spell the words as you call them out.
Melissa & Doug’s Hang Man – Play a game of guessing what the spelling word is using the same rules as the Original Hangman Game. Great for studying on the go! (Thanks to my daughter’s 1st grade teacher who shared this idea!)
